Trust me we'd all be freaked out if Nora had a baby by now I'm sorry by the way. Didn't mean to freak you out like that.
Under some bleachers, our rooms at the Academy, somebody's office..... Anywhere will work as long as it puts us out of our collective misery None of us have had time to talk. Ever since we got to Atlas, it's been nonstop. We literally got arrested on our first night So that's another crime I guess
It's fine, you've probably earned a few good shots at me by now.
You got arrested on your first night in Atlas. You know, I actually believe that. What were the charges? Being too cool for Ironwood's city? Doing 50 in a 45? Looking at a cop the wrong way?
Clover told us we were getting arrested for making an unauthorized landing in an unauthorized ship and unauthorized use of weapons by unlicensed Huntsmen Although we were clearly helping out with a Grimm attack in Mantle!!! But nooooooooooooooo, they cuffed us like we were the bad guys. Didn't exactly convey the biggest, warmest welcome we had hoped for.
Ugh, I knew Clover smelled like a cop. I barely even know him outside of his name. Sometimes you can just tell, you know? Any place that cares more about what's authorized and right and proper and whatever than it does about the people you're trying to protect is gonna be swarming with cops. And full of a bunch of people who hate them.
Yup, he's the leader of the Ace Ops, the best of the best of Atlas Academy. They aren't all talk either. They're crazy good. But none of that helps all that much relations between Atlas and Mantle. I knew they never got along all that well, but by the time we got there.... Let's just say you could cut the tension with a knife.
I'm really not surprised by any of that. Everything is just... I don't know. I'm almost glad I didn't end up getting sent there. If that city ever drops, Atlas is gonna find out real quick what happens when you take someone and beat them down their whole life, then force them to fight for scraps to survive.
Of course, you don't have to wait that long. I could just switch this to video if I wanted you to see that.
Hey, I won't argue with you there. It almost feels like Ironwood makes decisions that will make people angry on purpose sometimes. He's trying, but I dunno. It's like he doesn't get it, you know? And maybe that's the problem
Not Mantle exactly, but I know enough about places like it. Places where you do everything you can just to survive. Lie, cheat, steal. Try not to kill if you can avoid it, but that's not always so easy. Places where, if you survive long enough to get out, the only difference between you and a Huntress is an official certification and having all your information on file.
Us big dang hero types are good at getting people monologuing.
Places where the people at the top take advantage of people on the bottom are a lot alike, huh? It's not fair. And yeah, life's not fair, sometimes bad things happen, but that doesn't mean people should step all over others to live the life they want. Ha. Guess you got me going too.
Yeah. That was always one of the big rules back home. Take what you need to survive. Nothing more. No lives unless it's completely unavoidable. Because in places like these, the line between having a roof over your head and hiding under a blanket on the streets is as thin as a razor. And if you're okay today, there's no guarantee you'll still be okay tomorrow. I haven't had to live like that for a while, but you never really forget the lessons it teaches you. So I guess now you know another reason why I don't want Salem to win.
Making people believe is one of Ruby's many talents. It's almost as impressive as her eating 10 cookies in 30 seconds or being small enough to fit in somebody's pantry.
She'd want to hear it from you, but yeah. I'll tell her. Always glad to talk, Emerald. You got my number if you wanna text about how much you want to kick my ass again. ...cool if I call you Em?

But she won't win, I know it. Not if we work together.
[ yang wishes she could believe that with as much confidence as her text implies. ]

And I didn't really believe that much until I got to know your sister better.

Or don't. You know her better than me.
Either way, thanks for talking, blondie.
